About the Performance
Puentes Invisibles is a collaboration between the Taller de Investigácion Teatral (Mexico City) and Dr Deborah Templeton (University of Huddersfield). A contemplative and participatory theatre experience, Puentes Invisibles premiered in Chapultepec Forest (Mexico City) in November 2016 with eight performances taking place throughout the month.
A team of actors tell the story of Invisible Bridges – the story of a seeker travelling in Tibet with his ‘vagabond gang’. It is also a text about making deep contact with oneself, with others, and with the natural world that we inhabit. And, finally, Invisible Bridges is a love story... the lovers, the villages, even the dances meet and marry, but ultimately the Seeker at the heart of the story learns that the encounter he seeks is to be found within himself
The text is designed to intersect with a series of participatory actions created by Nicolás, Helena, and the Invisible Bridges team; and indeed, the writing is informed by Dr Deborah Templeton’s many years of experience of Nicolás's work. Through the poetry and participation, audiences are invited into deep, potentially transformative encounters.
During the performance of the story, actors will lead participants through a contemplative experience, during which they will have the opportunity to explore their connections with the landscape and the trees of the performance space. This exploration is made possible by participants’ engagement with the carefully created contemplative actions of the performance.
Invisible Bridges is a two hour performance and takes place entirely outside. Originally performed in Mexico City, the production and its themes are perfect for a participatory and mindful experience to be performed in any woodlan or forest location.
Audience meet at the performance starting place, are welcomed and given clear information and instructions about the contemplative process in which they will participate. The group of actors then carefully guide the participants on a short contemplative walk as they perform the story of Invisible Bridges and lead the participants in a series of contemplative actions. These actions are designed to support participants in a mindful experience of the natural environment and offer an opportunity to unwind, relax and connect to the trees and the earth and each other as well as engaging with the beautiful story of Invisible Bridges.
The growing popularity of both mindfulness and mindfulness as a creative tool mean that this performance will be of value to those interested in any contemplative practice as well as those whose main interest is theatre and performance. Because the performance explores themes of interdependence and ecology, it also has great appeal to anybody interested in natural environments and the ways in which we exist in and connect to them.

Audience Reviews
"The Sacred Forest of chapultepec, the threshold to the universe within. Today in the morning I crossed an invisible bridge that connected me with who I was, with who I am and who I'll become if i keep walking the path that leads me to my being. For more than 10 years the theatrical research workshop of unam, headed by Nicholas Nunez and @helenaguardia (who became my cosmic family) transformed me forever. I started the journey inwards, and the world became a field of infinite possibilities. I build bridges to the ideal with the theater antropocósmico as banner. Invisible Bridges is the new job ritual of theatrical workshop, which seeks to remind us that we're flechadores of stars and just knowing where's the white archers will be initiated. 10 years later I'm going back to connect this initiatory work to which I owe much of who I am. Live the experience of the theatre of high risk with Nicholas Nunez, Helena Guardia and Deborah Middleton."
Cecilia Nunez
“Today I felt the earth on my feet, felt the wind, walk in roots and look at the sky. Hug a tree, cry and laugh. I connected with the whole and I flowed a long time ago I did not do it. I thank art, I thank it and I thank the theater for making us feel, for making us open our hearts and awaken.”
